How to Take Care of Your Crystals

Have you ever felt like your crystal charm isn’t working as effectively as before? In reality, its power doesn’t really go away, but it may be covered or blocked by negative energy. This can happen when other people touch it, or when it gets exposed to heavy energy from places like hospitals, wakes, or emotionally intense environments. That’s why it’s still important to cleanse your crystals, even if they were already cleansed before you bought them.

Here are some easy steps to help care for and maintain your crystals’ energy:

1. Do you have black tourmaline? Place it near your other crystals to help absorb any negative energy. You can also use quartz, selenite, and citrine—these are self-cleansing crystals that can help reset the energy of your other stones.

2. You can also wash them in salt water (3 pinches of salt in a small bowl of water). But be careful—this method isn’t safe for all crystals, such as pyrite, selenite, malachite, fluorite, kyanite, and halite, as they may get damaged.

3. Let them bathe under the full moon. Even just 15 minutes in the moonlight can help cleanse their energy.

4. When not in use, store your crystals somewhere private—a place where others can’t easily see or touch them.

5. If your crystal breaks, you can still reuse it as long as it’s not completely damaged. For example, if your bracelet snaps, you can restring it and cleanse it again. But if the crystal is totally shattered, it may have absorbed too much negative energy that was meant for you. If you notice a series of unfortunate events happening after it breaks, it might be time to replace it with a new protection charm.
